Mooskan exists to listen.

We are not here to fix you or solve your problems.
We are here to hold space, to listen deeply, and to build a community of people who want to feel—freely and honestly.

For us, mental health is not about constant healing or improvement.
It is about the freedom to feel, to express, and to be witnessed without judgement.

Think of this space as a support group—rooted in nature, reflection, and shared humanity.

Home › About

A space to feel,
express, and be.

Mooskan was created with a simple intention — to offer a space where individuals can slow down, connect with themselves, and engage with their inner experiences in a way that feels natural and unforced.

In a world that often encourages quick solutions and constant movement, Mooskan takes a different approach. It values presence over urgency, and understanding over fixing.

This space is grounded in the belief that emotional well-being begins with being able to feel and express freely, without judgment or expectation.

Our approach

At Mooskan, the emphasis is on creating environments that are safe and non-judgmental — where individuals can express themselves openly.

Safe & non-judgmental
Where individuals can express themselves openly, without fear of evaluation.
Grounded & present
Allowing space for reflection and awareness, without urgency.
Respectful of individual pace
Recognising that each person's experience is different and valid.
Human & relational
Centred on connection and empathy — rather than directing or prescribing.
01
Presence
Over urgency, always.
02
Understanding
Over fixing.
03
Acceptance
Come exactly as you are.
04
Expression
Freely and without judgment.

About the founder
Mooskan Shah
Counselling Psychologist  |  Forest & Nature Therapist

Mooskan Shah is a counselling psychologist with a deep interest in understanding people's inner worlds — their emotions, experiences, and the meaning they make of them.

Her work is rooted in the idea that not everything needs to be rushed toward change. Often, what people need is the opportunity to pause, to feel, and to express themselves in a space that feels safe and accepting.

Alongside her background in counselling psychology, she is also a forest and nature therapist. While her current work focuses on one-to-one counselling and creating emotional spaces, her perspective is informed by the quiet, reflective qualities found in nature — where there is no urgency to become, only space to exist.

What it is

Forest bathing is not hiking. It is the slow, deliberate practice of being in the presence of trees — letting your nervous system soften, your senses open, and your thoughts settle without effort.

Rooted in the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, research shows that time in natural settings reduces cortisol, lowers blood pressure, and activates the parasympathetic nervous system. The setting does the work. You just show up.

What to expect
1
Arrive & settle
A brief grounding practice before we begin. No rush. No agenda.
2
Sensory invitations
Your guide offers gentle prompts — what do you hear? What draws your attention?
3
Sit spot
Time alone in one patch of the natural world. No goals. Just noticing what arises.
4
Optional circle
A gentle space to share what arose, if you wish. You are never required to speak.
5
Close with tea
We close with herbal tea together. Warmth, quiet, community.
Who it is for

Anyone who feels the need to slow down, to reconnect with themselves, or simply to spend time in a natural setting without pressure or agenda.

Substance use
peer support

"You don't have to be sober to walk in. You just have to be willing to sit with us."

Peer support means being heard by people who've been there — not clinicians, not advisors, just fellow humans who understand the territory of substance use from the inside.

No judgment
Whatever you've used, however much, however recently — you are welcome here.
Confidentiality
What is said in circle stays in circle. We are not linked to clinical services.
Lived experience
Facilitated by people with personal experience of substance use.
Harm reduction
We meet you where you are and support any step toward wellbeing.
Do I need to be sober to attend?
No. We welcome you wherever you are in your journey. Our approach is harm reduction — any step is honoured.
Is it completely confidential?
Yes. Mooskan is not a clinical service. What is shared in our circles stays within the group.
Do I have to speak?
Never. You can attend, listen, and simply be present. You will never be asked to speak.
Is there a cost?
Peer support circles are free. No one is turned away for financial reasons.
Struggling right now and need to talk to someone today? We're here. No forms, no waiting lists, no judgment.

Pro bono
counselling

Free, structured counselling sessions — offered to those who need support but cannot access it. Sessions are conducted by trained counselling interns under the close supervision of a qualified mental health professional.

Please note: All pro bono sessions at Mooskan are conducted by counselling interns working toward their professional qualification. Every session is reviewed and closely supervised by a licensed counselling psychologist. This is a structured training model that ensures ethical, competent support for every client. It is not the same as speaking with a fully qualified therapist independently — and we believe you deserve to know that.

What to expect

"You will be heard without judgement, and held without pressure."

Each person who applies is matched with a counselling intern based on availability and the nature of your concerns. You will typically meet with the same intern across your sessions for continuity.

Sessions are 50 minutes, held online via a secure video platform. All information you share is kept strictly confidential, subject to standard ethical limits (risk to self or others).

Your intern's work is reviewed regularly by a supervising psychologist — which means your care is always held within a professional structure, even while your counsellor is still in training.

How supervision works
Your intern meets weekly with a supervising psychologist to review session content, ethical concerns, and clinical direction. Every case is held by two professionals — the intern and the supervisor, working together on your behalf.
How the process works
1
Fill the application
Tell us a little about yourself and what you're carrying. There are no wrong answers.
2
We review within 48 hours
Our team reads each application carefully and matches you with an appropriate intern.
3
A brief intake call
A short 15-minute conversation to introduce yourself to your intern and answer any questions before sessions begin.
4
Sessions begin
Typically 6–8 sessions, weekly, 50 minutes each. Reviewed together at session 4. Extensions possible.
Completely free
No fees, no charges, no conditions. This is pro bono — a gift of time and care.
Supervised practice
Every session is conducted under the oversight of a qualified psychologist.
Confidential
What you share remains private, within the standard ethical framework.
Online sessions
Accessible from wherever you are. Held on a secure, private video platform.
6–8 sessions
Enough time to build a real therapeutic relationship and work through what matters.
Weekly cadence
Same time each week for consistency and containment — the foundation of good therapy.
Common questions
Who is this for?
Anyone who is struggling and cannot currently access paid therapy. There is no eligibility test — we ask only that you approach the sessions genuinely and treat the intern with the same respect you would offer any professional.
How many sessions can I have?
Typically 6–8 sessions, reviewed together at session 4. Extensions are possible depending on availability and need.
Is it therapy or just talking?
It is structured counselling — not informal chat. The intern works from a defined approach, sets goals with you, and tracks your progress in supervision. It is real therapeutic work.
What languages are available?
Sessions are currently available in English and Hindi. Bilingual sessions (English + Hindi) can also be arranged. Mention your preference in the application form.
Is this suitable for crisis situations?
Our pro bono programme is designed for ongoing emotional support — not acute crisis. If you are in immediate distress, please call a crisis helpline (details below). We can still support you once you are safe.
What if it's not the right fit?
You can always raise this — with the intern or directly with us. We will try to find a better match or help you access a more appropriate resource.
Is my information kept private?
Yes. Everything you share — including this application — is strictly confidential and seen only by Mooskan's clinical team. We do not share your information with anyone outside the supervision structure.
